On April 4th, 2022, suspected Russian artillery fired upon Saltivka in Kharkiv, killing one civilian and injuring two others.
Reports from the Kharkiv Human Rights protection Group noted that Russian shells were fired upon residential areas with one shell landing on the roof of a high-rise building in the Saltivka section of Kharkiv. Telegram user XC_Kharkiv posted a video that confirmed the attack and stated that one person had been killed and two more wounded.
Suspilne news quoted Kharkiv Regional Military Administrator Oleg Synegubov as saying, “Over the past day, the occupiers have launched 54 strikes from various types of long-range weapons: artillery strikes, mortar and tank fire, shelling from multiple rocket-propelled grenade launchers. The districts of Saltivka, Pyatikhatka, Oleksiivka, Kholodnaya Gora, Dergachi, Barvinkovo, and Chuguyiv were affected.” This quote was also posted on Synegubov’s personal Telegram page.
Telegram account Perviy Kharkovsky with a clear pro-Russian stance posted on Telegram that “the guns of the Armed Forces of Ukraine” fired at Kharkiv, specifying that MLRS “grads” were involved, without providing any other information. Ukrainian Telegram channel based in Kharkiv with local correspondents in the city called Kharkov Nash described “[Kharkiv] is booming. Saltovka rumbles” without additional details of who was responsible.
