Airwars assessment
At least two people were killed and one injured in an alleged US airstrike in the Al-Nahdeen areas of the Al-Sab’een district in Yemen’s capital city of Sana’a during the evening of 9 April, 2025. Houthi members were also killed and wounded, but the number is unknown.
Later accounts reported that the “death toll has risen to 3”. It is possible – though not definitive – that the injured person later died from their wounds. However, the Ministry of Health, quoted by Al Arabi TV, specified that three people had died, and a fourth was wounded. Al Arabi also shared video of the aftermath of the strikes occurring throughout the capital. People can be seen searching rubble for potential survivors, and infrastructural damage is rife.
Further details on the identities of these civilians was not made public.
According to Alhadath Yemen News, “death and wounded” Houthi members resulting from the US strikes on a military complex – “the complex of the presidency house” – in Al-Nahdeen. A post on Twitter/X by @YemenPostN specified that the civilians were killed “near the roundabout behind the Al-Shaab Mosque, in the Al-Sab’een District”.
Where sources named a belligerent, all pointed to the US military.
A photograph shared by source Rafad News has been removed from this assessment, as it was first published in 2020 and does not correspond to this incident.
The incident occured in the evening.
