At least three children were killed and their parents were injured by alleged US airstrikes on a family home in the village of Al-Shemil in the district of Al-Wadiah, Yemen on August 2, 2016.
Spanish news agency EFE reported that “at least three children died and their parents were wounded in an air strike on Tuesday by a U.S. drone that missed its target in Al-Wadiah, in southern Yemen.” The bombing reportedly destroyed the house of the family, located in the village of Al-Shemil in the district of Al-Wadiah, birthplace of Yemeni President Abdo Rabu Mansur Hadi. The adults were taken to a hospital in the city of Zinjibar, capital of the southern province of Abyan.
Multiple local sources, including @EnShami, reported that the “entire family” had been killed. However, Sam Press provided additional details that the home that was struck belonged to Abdullah Hanin – the strike killed three of his children and severely injured himself and his wife.
The majority of sources that reported on the incident attributed the strike to the “Saudi-US aggression” while EFE was the only source to mention the US as the sole belligerent.
