On 23 October 2023, 12 people were reportedly killed in an alleged Israeli airstrike on a home in the al-Tuffah neighbourhood of Gaza City, housing Palestine Today TV media worker, Ibrahim Marzouq, and many members of his family. A thirteenth member of the family was killed and has been identified as a militant. In total, reports suggested that three men, five women, and four children were reportedly killed in this alleged Israeli airstrike.
Ibrahim Marzouq was a Palestinian media worker in the logistics department at Palestine Today TV who was reportedly killed in this alleged Israeli attack, alongside a number of his family members. Palestine Today TV and other sources reported that the airstrike hit the family home of Ibrahim. Ibrahim, who was 33 years old at the time of his death, was killed alongside his 28-year-old wife, Hadeel Fawzi Mohammed Marzouq, and his son, Tim Ibrahim Hussein Marzouq, aged only three years.
Three other children were reportedly killed in the attack. Tala Fawzi Muhammad al-Qafidi, a girl aged 13, Ward Ahmed Fawzi al-Qafidi, a young boy aged two, and Sham Ahmed Fawzi al-Qafidi, another girl who was reportedly less than one year old. A 16-year-old boy, Malik Rafaat Ibrahim Marzouq (a militant), was also allegedly killed in the attack.
A further seven adults were reportedly killed in the alleged Israeli airstrike: 35-year-old brother of Ibrahim, Adham Hussein Ibrahim Marzouq; 18-year-old sister of Ibrahim, Amira Hussein Ibrahim Marzouq; Mohammed Ihsan Ibrahim Marzouq, a 24-year-old man; Duaa Fawzi Muhammad al-Bahtini, a 32-year-old woman; and Sanaa Ibrahim Rabah al-Qafidi, a 55-year-old woman.
Where possible, the names of the victims have been matched with the Palestinian Ministry of Health (MoH) lists, which include national ID numbers. Since October 26, 2023, the MoH has released a number of lists, along with an additional list of medical professionals, which was released on September 17, 2024. Airwars is matching individuals to the first list where their name appeared. In regard to this incident, most of the names are matched to the first “Palestinian Ministry of Health List of Fatalities in Gaza”, which was released on October 26, 2023.
Where possible, the ages of victims have been found by cross-checking names against lists of fatalities shared online by Genocide in Gaza, which has a list of “martyrs” of Israeli forces.
On Facebook, Samer Malfouh mourned the death of his “dear friend” Ibrahim. He shared his image – a young man in a dark-blue polo shirt and blue jeans, sitting on a chair.
The Committee to Protect Journalists published an article about the death of Ibrahim, reporting that following the alleged airstrike on his home, he remained under the rubble until noon the following day (24 October 2023), at which point a medical team were able to recover his body.
According to an article written by Thabet al-Amour published on the Institute for Palestine Studies’ website, Ibrahim had a large family, and although aware of the threat in Gaza City, decided to remain in their home as displacement was not an option for them.
Where sources identified the belligerent, all sources attributed the strike to the Israeli Military.
