The Al-Bakri family massacre was a massacre perpetrated by the Israeli Air Force when it attacked civilian homes in Khan Yunis, in the southern Gaza Strip, on the evening of Wednesday, October 18, 2023. This massacre was one of several that occurred during Operation Al-Aqsa Flood. A house belonging to the al-Bakri family near the European Hospital in Khan Younis was targeted, resulting in the deaths of nine people, including seven children.[1]

In the early morning hours of October 7, 2023, Hamas, through its military wing, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, launched Operation al-Aqsa Flood in response to Israeli attacks, the desecration of al-Aqsa Mosque, and the continued settlement activity. This was confirmed by Mohammed Deif, the commander-in-chief of the al-Qassam Brigades, who gave the signal to launch the operation. The operation involved resistance fighters storming settlements surrounding Gaza, killing a large number of Israeli soldiers and capturing dozens more. Within hours, they were able to advance tens of kilometers, reaching settlements further than those surrounding and near the Gaza Strip.

On October 18, 2023, Israeli warplanes bombed a house near the Ahmed Abdel Aziz School, which was sheltering displaced people in the al-Hawouz area of the Khan Younis refugee camp in the southern Gaza Strip, resulting in deaths and injuries. Ten people were killed, including eight children and two women, and ten others were wounded and taken to the Gaza European Hospital in the eastern part of the governorate.[2]

مجزرة عائلة البكري، هي مجزرةٌ ارتكبها سلاح الجوّ الإسرائيلي حينما أغارَ على منازل المدنيين في في خانيونس جنوب القطاع من مساء يوم الأربعاء الموافق 18 أكتوبر 2023. هذه المجزرة من ضمن عدة مجازر وقعت خلال عملية طوفان الأقصى. حيثُ تم استهدف منزل لعائلة البكري قرب المستشفى الأوروبي بخانيونس، وأعلن عن ارتقاء 9 شهداء منهم 7 أطفال.[1]



في ساعاتِ الصباح الأولى من يوم السابع من أكتوبر 2023 أطلقت حركة المقاومة الإسلامية حماس عبر ذراعها العسكري كتائب الشهيد عز الدين القسام عملية طوفان الأقصى وذلك ردًا على الاعتداءات الإسرائيلية وتدنيس الأقصى والاستمرار في الاستيطان كما أكّد على ذلك محمد الضيف القائد العام للقسّام والذي أعطى إشارة انطلاق العمليّة التي شهدت اقتحامًا من المقاومين لمستوطنات غلاف غزة ونجحوا في قتلِ عدد كبيرٍ من الجنود الإسرائيليين وأسر عشرات آخرين كما استطاعوا خلال ساعات قطع عشرات الكيلومترات ووصلوا لمستوطنات أبعد من تلك المحيطة والقريبة من قطاع غزة.


بتاريخ 18 أكتوبر 2023 شنت الطائرات غارة على منزل قرب مدرسة أحمد عبد العزيز التي تأوي نازحين في منطقة الحاووز بمخيم خان يونس جنوب القطاع، ما أوقع شهداء وجرحى. وسقط 10 شهداء بينهم 8 أطفال وسيدتين، و10 إصابات وصلوا لمستشفى غزة الأوروبي شرق المحافظة.[2]
