Syrian authorities announced on Saturday that five people were killed in an explosion at an ammunition depot in the southern city of Sweida, according to state media.

Earlier, media sources reported that the explosion was caused by an Iranian missile strike following the US-Israeli attack on Iran and Tehran's retaliatory missile launches against Israel and Gulf states.

However, state television later corrected the report, confirming that the explosion was caused by the detonation of an ammunition and missile depot, resulting in five deaths.

أعلنت السلطات السورية السبت عن مقتل خمسة أشخاص جراء انفجار مستودع ذخيرة في مدينة السويداء في جنوب سوريا، وفق ما أفاد الإعلام الرسمي.

في وقت سابق، أفادت مصادر إعلامية بأن الانفجار نجم عن سقوط صاروخ إيراني على وقع الهجوم الأميركي الإسرائيلي على إيران، ورد طهران بإطلاق صواريخ على إسرائيل ودول الخليج.

لكن التلفزيون الحكومي صحح الخبر في وقت لاحق مؤكدا أن الانفجار "ناجم عن انفجار مستودع ذخيرة وصواريخ" وخلّف خمسة قتلى.
