The videos show numerous bodies amidst widespread destruction. Some of the bodies are on a flatbed trailer, apparently used to transport people away from Gaza City. Among them are at least several children, and there are also a number of burned and badly damaged cars.

The cause of the widespread destruction is unclear. The explosion occurred on Salah al-Din Street on Friday afternoon.

CNN has reached out to the Israeli military for comment on any airstrikes in the same area.

On Friday, the Israeli military told civilians in and around Gaza City that they should move south to avoid being caught in the crossfire of Israeli military operations.

For its part, Hamas's media office told CNN on Saturday that Israeli airstrikes killed 70 people and injured 200 others who had been evacuated from Gaza after Israel issued a warning to 1.1 million people to move south on Friday.

Hamas added that the airstrikes targeted the evacuees in three locations: Salah al-Din Street, Sheikh Ahmed Yassin Street, and near Wadi Gaza.

Earlier, the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza confirmed that a large number of dead and wounded, including women and children, had arrived at al-Shifa Hospital in the al-Rimal neighborhood after being bombed while traveling from northern Gaza to the south.

وليس من الواضح سبب الدمار الواسع. ووقع الانفجار في شارع صلاح الدين، بعد ظهر الجمعة.

وتواصلت CNN مع الجيش الإسرائيلي للتعليق على أي غارات جوية في نفس الموقع.

وأبلغت قوات الجيش الإسرائيلي المدنيين في مدينة غزة وما حولها، الجمعة، أنه يجب عليهم التحرك جنوبا، لتجنب الوقوع ضمن نطاق العمليات العسكرية الإسرائيلية.
