The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) reported that "at least six people were killed this afternoon when an UNRWA school in the Maghazi refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip was bombed."

In a statement issued Tuesday evening in Geneva, UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini confirmed that dozens of people (including UNRWA staff) were injured and the school sustained significant structural damage.

The statement suggested that the death toll could be higher, describing the attack as "outrageous" and demonstrating yet another blatant disregard for civilian lives. It emphasized that there is no longer any safe place in Gaza, not even UNRWA facilities.

The agency noted that the school was hit during Israeli airstrikes and shelling of the Gaza Strip, adding that 4,000 people had sought refuge there.

UNRWA confirmed that since the start of the war on October 7, it has been providing the coordinates of its facilities to the relevant parties on a daily basis.

وأكد المفوض العام للمنظمة فيليب لازارينى، في بيان، مساء اليوم الثلاثاء في جنيف، أن العشرات (بمن فيهم موظفو الاونروا) قد أصيبوا ولحقت أضرار هيكلية جسيمة بالمدرسة.

ورجح البيان أن تكون أرقام الضحايا أعلى، واصفا ما حدث بأنه "أمر مشين" ويظهر مرة أخرى استهتارا صارخا بحياة المدنيين، وأكدت أنه لم يعد هناك مكان آمن في غزة بعد الآن ولا حتى منشآت الأونروا.

ولفتت المنظمة إلى أن المدرسة تعرضت للقصف خلال الغارات الجوية والقصف الجوي الذي شنته القوات الإسرائيلية على قطاع غزة، مشيرة إلى أن 4 آلاف شخص كانوا قد لجأوا إلى المدرسة التي تحولت إلى ملجأ.

وأكدت المنظمة الدولية أنه منذ بداية الحرب في 7 أكتوبر الجاري، فإنها تقوم بتوفير إحداثيات منشآتها للأطراف المعنية بشكل يومي.
