The Central Leadership Council of the Bumi Seram Makassar Alumni Corps (DPP CABM) is concerned about the incident that befell Capt Miswar (50), a sailor from Luwu Regency, South Sulawesi.

Capt Miswar is the captain of the tugboat Musaffah 2.

The ship crashed in the Strait of Hormuz , the waters between the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Oman, on Friday (6/3/2026),

The General Chairperson of the DPP CABM for the 2022–2027 period, Capt. Agus Salim, said that his party immediately coordinated after receiving initial information about the incident.

"The Central Leadership Council of the Bumi Seram Makassar Alumni Corps expresses its deep concern over the incident that befell one of our alumni, Capt. Miswar Paturusi," Agus told Tribun-Timur.com, Tuesday (10/3/2026) at around 10:58 WITA.

The Bumi Seram Makassar Alumni Corps is an alumni organization of the Secondary Maritime School (SPM) which later developed into the Maritime Education and Training Center (BPLP), and is now known as the Makassar Maritime Polytechnic (PIP).

Capt Miswar himself is an alumnus of the 15th class of the maritime school.

According to Agus, based on temporary information, the incident occurred when Miswar was carrying out his professional duties as captain of the ASD Tug Musaffah 2 ship in the waters around Oman, Middle East.

Initial information circulating stated that there was a suspected explosion on board the ship.

The explosion is thought to be related to a missile attack in the waters.

However, until now the exact cause of the incident is still awaiting official confirmation from the relevant authorities.

"Initial information suggests an explosion on board, possibly related to a missile attack. However, we are still awaiting official confirmation from the authorities," said Agus, an alumnus of the 5th PIP Makassar class.

Since receiving the initial report, the DPP CABM immediately established communication with various parties, including Capt Miswar's family .

In addition, the alumni organization also communicated with the Abu Dhabi Ports company where Miswar worked as well as a number of Indonesian government agencies that handle the protection of citizens abroad.

The DPP CABM has also sent official letters to a number of related parties.

"From yesterday until today, we have sent official letters to the Indonesian Embassy in Oman, Abu Dhabi, the Ministry of Maritime Transportation, and the company where he works in Abu Dhabi," said Agus.

He added that his party had also communicated directly with representatives of the Indonesian Embassy (KBRI) in Muscat, Oman, to obtain the latest developments.

"We have also communicated with the Indonesian Embassy in Muscat and company representatives. If there are any new developments, we will immediately inform the family," he said.

Agus emphasized that his organization will continue to monitor the process of handling the incident and provide moral support to Capt Miswar's family .

According to him, the alumni organization is committed to overseeing the communication process with various stakeholders to ensure it is transparent and accountable.

"We are committed to providing the necessary moral support and assistance to the family," he said.

He also stated that coordination with Indonesian authorities abroad is ongoing, including monitoring of the Indonesian crew members involved in the voyage.

"The Indonesian Embassy in Muscat has also coordinated and monitored all Indonesian crew members involved," he said.

Amidst the high level of public attention on this case, the DPP CABM urges the public to exercise restraint and not spread unverified information.

Agus asked all parties to wait for official information from the family, company, and relevant authorities.

"We urge the public to wait for official information and not to spread unverified news," he said.

He also expressed his appreciation to various parties who have provided support and prayers for Capt Miswar and his family.

"We appreciate all parties who have provided moral support and prayers for the safety and fortitude of Capt Miswar's family ," he said.

The family has not received official news yet.

Meanwhile, Capt Miswar's wife , Marliani Ahmad (47), said that the family has not yet been able to confirm her husband's condition. Temporary information received by the family states that Miswar is still reported missing.

Marliani revealed that the family first received news of the incident on Friday (7/3/2026) at around 10.00 WITA from her husband's colleagues in the shipping world.

"The information was conveyed by a colleague from my husband's company who contacted us via our child's cell phone," said Marliani when met by Tribun-Timur.com, Monday (9/3/2026).

She said her last communication with her husband was on Thursday morning (March 5, 2026). Miswar was still able to speak with her and inform her of the upcoming voyage.

During the day at around 13.00 WITA, Miswar was also known to have read a message from his child via a chat application, but he did not reply to the message.

"The message was read, but I didn't get a chance to reply. After that, there was no more news," said Marliani.

So far, Capt Miswar is known to have worked at Abu Dhabi port as a guide for large ships entering the port.

According to Marliani, the incident that befell her husband occurred when the ship captained by Miswar was at the end of the Strait of Hormuz and had approached the territory of Oman, a country neighboring Iran and separated by the Strait of Hormuz .

The ship is suspected to have been hit by a combat drone attack, although the origin of the drone is still unknown.

The family is still receiving various versions of information regarding the incident.

In fact, the wife of Miswar's shipmate, Chief Engineer Sirajuddin, came to Marliani's house to seek information about her husband's condition.

"Mr. Sirajuddin's wife came to the house earlier with their child. She hasn't received any definitive information yet and is still waiting for news from the company and the Indonesian Embassy," he said.

Marliani said her husband had had a career in the shipping world for more than two decades.

"In my current company, it's probably about 10 years," he said. (*)

Before losing contact, Miswar also had time to convey to his colleagues that the ship he was leading was experiencing problems with its navigation system.

Until now, the family claims they have not received an official written statement from the company regarding the incident.

Keluarga Belum Terima Kabar Resmi
