Journalist Ahmed Abu Aisha was killed Thursday evening as a result of an Israeli airstrike that targeted a group of civilians in the Al-Sawarha area, west of the Nuseirat refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip.

With the death of journalist Abu Aisha, the number of journalists killed since the beginning of the genocidal war in the Gaza Strip has risen to 229.

Protection of Journalists Condemns the Crime

For its part, the Palestinian Center for the Protection of Journalists (PJPC) condemned the killing of journalist Ahmed Abu Aisha on Thursday, following an Israeli airstrike that targeted the Al-Sawarha area, west of the Nuseirat refugee camp, in the central Gaza Strip.

In a statement received by the Palestinian Information Center, the center said that Abu Aisha worked as an editor for the Palestine Today news agency and documented the massacres of civilians in Gaza during the genocidal war that has been taking place for more than 21 months.

He added that the Israeli army killed journalist Abu Aisha, along with Mahmoud Abu Darbi, Mahmoud Zaqout, and Mohammed Al-Sultan, this month.

The center emphasized that the United Nations and the international community are required to take immediate action to stop the targeting of journalists and prevent the use of military force to obstruct their journalistic and professional work.

The occupation forces continue their brutal war of aggression on the Gaza Strip, while continuing to target civilians and commit massacres against the starving.

حماية الصحفيين يدين الجريمة

من جانبه أدان مركز حماية الصحفيين الفلسطينيين (PJPC)، الخميس، جريمة قتل الصحفي أحمد أبو عيشة، إثر غارة جوية إسرائيلية استهدفت منطقة السوارحة غرب مخيم النصيرات، وسط قطاع غزة.

وقال المركز في بيان صادر عنه وصل المركز الفلسطيني للإعلام إن أبو عيشة كان يعمل محررًا في وكالة “فلسطين اليوم”، ووثّق مجازر حرب الإبادة التي يتعرض لها المدنيون في غزة منذ أكثر من 21 شهرًا.


وأضاف أن الجيش الإسرائيلي قتل الصحفي أبو عيشة إلى جانب كل من محمود أبو ضربي، ومحمود زقوت، ومحمد السلطان، خلال الشهر الجاري.

وأكد المركز أن الأمم المتحدة والمجتمع الدولي مطالبون بالتحرّك الفوري لوقف استهداف الصحفيين، ومنع استخدام القوة العسكرية لعرقلة عملهم الصحفي والمهني.

وتُواصل قوات الاحتلال حربها العدوانية الشعواء على قطاع غزة، تزامنًا مع استمرار استهداف المدنيين وارتكاب مجازر بحق المجوّعين.
