The Al-Nasser Salah al-Din Brigades, the military wing of the Popular Resistance Committees, announced the martyrdom of senior commander Ahmed Kamel Sarhan, head of the "Special Action" unit, during a heroic armed clash with an Israeli special force that attempted to storm his home and arrest him at dawn today in the city of Khan Yunis, south of the Gaza Strip. The Brigades confirmed in an official statement that martyr Sarhan bravely and steadfastly confronted the invading force, and engaged in direct combat with them until the moment of his martyrdom. They stressed that the operation carried out by the Israeli special forces failed to achieve its objectives. The Brigades mourned the martyred commander Sarhan, describing his martyrdom as "a new chapter in the ongoing resistance," affirming their continued confrontation with the occupation by all possible means. This morning, Monday, an Israeli special force ("Musta'ribun") carried out an assassination operation targeting the leader of the Al-Nasser Brigades, Ahmed Sarhan, in Khan Yunis, south of the Gaza Strip, and arrested his wife and children, in a new horrific crime recorded by the occupation during its ongoing war of genocide on the Gaza Strip. Al Jazeera quoted eyewitnesses as saying that an Israeli special forces force disguised as women infiltrated a civilian vehicle, stormed a house, executed a Palestinian, and arrested his wife and children. They then killed another child as they withdrew from the house. Press sources said that Israeli aircraft launched more than 30 raids over a period of 40 minutes to secure the withdrawal of the special forces, accompanied by intense fire from Israeli helicopters and tanks, resulting in dozens of deaths and injuries. For his part, an Israeli Army Radio correspondent said, "It appears that the operation in Khan Younis faltered and did not achieve its real goal. There is no need to assassinate a person by endangering a special forces force, as they can be attacked from the air." Israeli Army Radio added, "If the Palestinian reports are correct, we believe that they would not have sent an undercover force, at great risk to their lives, to assassinate a Palestinian leader and arrest his wife and children."
