Israel announced on Tuesday the assassination of Osama al-Muzaini, head of the Hamas Shura Council, in Gaza during the evening hours of Monday.

The Israeli army said in a statement, a copy of which was sent to Anadolu Agency: "It and the General Security Service (Shin Bet) were able to eliminate Osama al-Muzaini, head of the Hamas Shura Council."

It added that al-Muzaini "was responsible for the prisoners' file and directed operations against Israel." There was no immediate comment from Hamas.

The army indicated that it "strikes over the past 24 hours targeted more than 200 Hamas and Islamic Jihad military infrastructure in the Gaza Strip," it said.

It added: "A bank building used by Hamas in the Gaza Strip and a number of underground tunnels were also targeted."

For the eleventh day, Israeli aircraft intensified their bombardment of Gaza, targeting residential buildings and facilities. As of Monday evening, this has resulted in the deaths of 2,778 people and the injury of 9,938 others, in addition to the disruption of water, electricity, food, and other essential services to the Strip.

At dawn on October 7, Hamas and other Palestinian factions in Gaza launched Operation "Al-Aqsa Flood," in response to "the continued attacks by Israeli forces and settlers against the Palestinian people, their property, and their holy sites, especially Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied East Jerusalem."

During the operation, Hamas and other Palestinian factions captured "dozens of Israelis, including soldiers and officers," during a large-scale infiltration of settlements surrounding Gaza, according to the movement's announcement at the time.

أعلنت إسرائيل، الثلاثاء، اغتيال رئيس مجلس شورى حركة "حماس" أسامة المزيني، في غزة خلال ساعات مساء الإثنين.

وقال الجيش الإسرائيلي في بيان أرسل نسخة منه للأناضول: "إنه وجهاز الأمن العام (الشاباك) تمكنا من تصفية أسامة المزيني رئيس مجلس شورى حماس".

وأضاف أن المزيني "كان مسؤولا عن ملف الأسرى وقام بتوجيه عمليات ضد إسرائيل"، فيما لم يصدر تعقيب فوري من حركة "حماس".

وأشار الجيش إلى أنه "أغار خلال الساعات الـ 24 الماضية على أكثر من 200 بنية تحتية عسكرية لحماس والجهاد الإسلامي في قطاع غزة" حسب تعبيره.

وأردف: "كما تم استهداف مبنى بنك تستخدمه حماس في قطاع غزة وعدد من الأنفاق تحت الأرض".

ولليوم الحادي عشر تكثف الطائرات الإسرائيلية قصفها على غزة، مستهدفة المباني السكنية والمرافق ما أسفرت حتى مساء الإثنين، عن مقتل 2778 شهيدا و9938 جريحا، فضلا عن قطع إمدادات المياه والكهرباء والغذاء والمرافق الأساسية الأخرى عن القطاع.

وفجر 7 أكتوبر/ تشرين الأول أطلقت "حماس" وفصائل فلسطينية أخرى في غزة عملية "طوفان الأقصى"، ردا على "اعتداءات القوات والمستوطنين الإسرائيليين المتواصلة بحق الشعب الفلسطيني وممتلكاته ومقدساته، ولا سيما المسجد الأقصى في القدس الشرقية المحتلة".

وخلال العملية، أسرت حركة "حماس" وفصائل فلسطينية أخرى "عشرات الإسرائيليين بينهم جنود وضباط"، خلال عملية تسلل واسعة النطاق لمستوطنات غلاف غزة، وفق ما أعلنت الحركة حينها.
