The Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy announced that a service building at one of its power and water desalination plants was damaged in a heinous Iranian attack, resulting in the death of an Indian worker.

The Minister of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy, Dr. Subaih Al-Mukhaizeem, immediately inspected the site of the incident, accompanied by Undersecretary Dr. Adel Al-Zamil and Assistant Undersecretary for Power Plants, Eng. Haitham Al-Ali. He checked on the well-being of the plant's employees and assessed the damage to the building caused by the attack. He directed that all necessary procedures be expedited to ensure everyone's safety and the continuity of operations.

In a statement issued yesterday evening, the Ministry's official spokesperson, Fatima Hayat, said that "technical and emergency teams immediately began their work according to the approved emergency plans to address the aftermath of the incident and maintain operational efficiency, in full coordination with security and relevant authorities to secure the affected sites."

Hayat urged everyone to remain calm, avoid spreading rumors, and obtain information from official sources, emphasizing that the Ministry will continue to monitor developments transparently.

She emphasized that the safety and stability of the electricity and water systems are a top priority, and that all technical teams are working around the clock with high efficiency, in anticipation of any emergency and to ensure the continuity of vital services.

It is worth noting that this attack on the station is the second of its kind, following the attack on the Doha West station, which resulted in a fire and material damage. In addition, several incidents have occurred affecting overhead power lines in various locations due to falling debris. The Ministry of Electricity addressed these incidents and immediately restored most of the lines to service, thus preserving the country's electricity grid.

Electricity sources revealed to Al-Jarida that the Minister of Electricity and other ministry officials visited the station under the pressure of the attack and remained there until 2:00 AM. Officials and staff at the station insisted on staying to ensure its continued operation.

أعلنت وزارة الكهرباء والماء والطاقة المتجددة تضرر مبنى خدمي في إحدى محطات القوى الكهربائية وتقطير المياه لهجوم إيراني آثم، ما أسفر عن وفاة أحد العاملين من الجنسية الهندية.

وتفقد وزير الكهرباء والماء والطاقة المتجددة، د. صبيح المخيزيم، موقع الحادث على الفور، بحضور الوكيل د. عادل الزامل، والوكيل المساعد لمحطات القوى م. هيثم العلي، واطمأن على العاملين بالمحطة، ووقف على حالة المبنى المتضرر جراء الاعتداء الآثم، موجهاً بسرعة استكمال الإجراءات اللازمة لضمان سلامة الجميع واستمرارية العمل.

وقالت المتحدثة الرسمية باسم الوزارة فاطمة حيات، في بيان، مساء أمس، إن «الفرق الفنية وفرق الطوارئ باشرت أعمالها بشكل فوري وفق خطط الطوارئ المعتمدة للتعامل مع تداعيات الحادث واستمرار كفاءة التشغيل بالتوازي مع التنسيق الكامل مع الجهات الأمنية والجهات ذات الصلة لتأمين المواقع المتضررة».


وأهابت حيات بالجميع التحلي بالهدوء وعدم الانسياق وراء الشائعات واستقاء المعلومات من مصادرها الرسمية، مؤكدة مواصلة متابعة المستجدات بشفافية.

وشددت على أن سلامة واستقرار المنظومة الكهربائية والمائية تمثل أولوية قصوى، وأن جميع الفرق الفنية تعمل على مدار الساعة بكفاءة عالية، تحسباً لأي طارئ وضماناً لاستمرارية الخدمات الحيوية. 

يذكر أن استهداف تلك المحطة يعد الثاني من نوعه بعد استهداف محطة الدوحة الغربية، الذي أسفر عن وقوع حريق نتج عنه أضرار مادية، إضافة إلى وقوع العديد من الحوادث التي طالت بعض الخطوط الهوائية في مواقع مختلفة جراء سقوط شظايا على تلك الخطوط، تعاملت معها وزارة الكهرباء وأعادت معظمها على الفور إلى الخدمة، حفاظاً على منظومة الطاقة الكهربائية في البلاد.

وكشفت مصادر «الكهرباء» لـ«الجريدة» أن زيارة وزير الكهرباء والمسؤولين في الوزارة كانت تحت وطأة استهداف المحطة، وامتدت حتى الساعة الثانية بعد منتصف الليل. وقد أصرَّ المسؤولون والعاملون في المحطة على البقاء فيها لضمان تشغيلها ومواصلة العمل فيها.
