Three civilians were killed in a raid conducted by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the town of Dhiban in the eastern Deir ez-Zor countryside early this morning, Sunday, December 21.

An Enab Baladi correspondent in Deir ez-Zor reported that the SDF, in cooperation with the international coalition against ISIS, carried out a security operation in the town, resulting in the deaths of three civilians after SDF forces opened fire on residents, and the arrest of six others.

The correspondent added that all those arrested by the SDF were civilians unaffiliated with ISIS or any other faction or movement.

The operation began at 1:00 AM this morning, amidst a heavy security cordon, and included raids and searches of several homes in the town, according to the correspondent.

The correspondent noted that the operation was accompanied by US warplanes flying over the Mayadin desert. A US military convoy also entered the town of al-Shuhail in the eastern countryside at 10:00 PM on Saturday, December 20, and left at 6:00 AM this morning, Sunday. The reason for the convoy's entry has not been confirmed as of the time of this report.

مراسل عنب بلدي في دير الزور، أفاد أن “قسد” نفذت عملية أمنية في البلدة، بالتعاون مع التحالف الدولي لمحاربة تنظيم “الدولة الإسلامية”، أسفرت عن مقتل ثلاثة مدنيين إثر إطلاق النار على أبناء البلدة، واعتقال ستة آخرين.

وأضاف المراسل أن جميع الأشخاص الذين اعتقلتهم “قسد” مدنيون لا ينتمون لتنظيم “الدولة” أو لأي فصيل أو حركة.


العملية بدأت الساعة الواحدة فجر اليوم، وسط طوق أمني مكثف، وتضمنت مداهمة وتفتيش عدة منازل في البلدة، بحسب المراسل.

وأشار المراسل إلى أن العملية رافقها تحليق طيران حربي أمريكي في سماء بادية الميادين، كما دخل رتل عسكري أمريكي بلدة الشحيل بالريف الشرقي الساعة العاشرة مساء السبت 20 من كانون الأول، وخرجت اليوم، الأحد، الساعة السادسة صباحًا، ولم يتم التحقق من سبب دخول الرتل حتى تحرير المادة.
