When news of Khalid ibn al-Walid's death reached Umar ibn al-Khattab, he withdrew into himself and began to weep, saying, "They have gone and left me!" Umar, the conqueror of empires, from whom even Satan fled, was broken by Khalid's death just as he had been by the death of the Prophet (peace be upon him). He went out searching for a place to weep alone.

A person is defeated by the things they love. A thousand enemies cannot do to your heart what the loss of a single loved one does. So how much more so when we have lost an army of loved ones, friends, and relatives?

عندما وصل خبر وفاه خالد بن الوليد الي عمر بن الخطاب
إنزوه بنفسه وأخذ يبكي ويقول:ذهبوا وتركوني
عُمر هازم الإمبراطوريات والذي يهرب منه الشيطان
كسره موت خالد تماما كما كسره موت النبي صلى الله عليه فخرج يبحث عن مكان يبكي فيه لوحده !!!
يُهزم المرء بالأشياء التي يُحبها
الف عدو لايفعلون بقلبك مايفعله فراق حبيب واحد ،
فكيف وقد خسرنا جيش من المحبين والأصحاب والأقارب
