The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced today that they carried out a precise security operation in coordination with the International Coalition forces, resulting in the arrest of a senior ISIS leader in the eastern Deir ez-Zor countryside.

In a statement, the SDF explained that its Special Operations Units (TOL) conducted the operation in the town of al-Basira, following a period of surveillance and monitoring of the movements of Khalid Marbad Obeid, also known as Abu Omar, who was responsible for distributing weapons and ammunition to ISIS cells.

The SDF stated that the operation was carried out after establishing a tight security cordon around the leader's hideout, leading to his arrest without any casualties.

According to the statement, Obeid played a key role in arming the groups responsible for carrying out attacks targeting security forces and civilians in the region.

وأوضحت "قسد"، في بيان، أن وحدات المهام الخاصة (TOL) نفذت العملية في بلدة "البصيرة"، بعد عملية رصد ومتابعة لتحركات المدعو خالد مربد عبيد، المعروف باسم "أبي عمر"، والذي يُعد مسؤولًا عن توزيع الأسلحة والذخائر لخلايا التنظيم.
وذكرت القوات أن العملية تمت بعد فرض طوق أمني محكم على موقع اختباء القيادي، ما أدى إلى اعتقاله دون وقوع خسائر.
وبحسب البيان، فإن عبيد لعب دورًا رئيسيًا في تسليح المجموعات المسؤولة عن تنفيذ هجمات استهدفت القوات الأمنية والمدنيين في المنطقة.
