On April 15, 2025, Fathi Abdel Qader Abu Shaar (56 years old) and Yahya Fathi Abu Shaar (33 years old) were killed in an Israeli airstrike that targeted a tent housing displaced people in the Mawasi al-Qarara area, northwest of Khan Younis. Others were injured in the attack. Fires also broke out east of Gaza City due to artillery shelling.
