A New Moon... The Ascension of Martyr Yazan Saeed

While performing his humanitarian duties... The Palestinian-Syrian paramedic Yazan Nours Saeed was martyred in southern Lebanon.

Palestinian-Syrian paramedic Yazan Nours Saeed, a resident of the Al-Husayniyah refugee camp in rural Damascus, was killed in an Israeli airstrike that targeted ambulance crews in the town of Deir Qanoun al-Nahr in southern Lebanon while he was carrying out his humanitarian duties.

Saeed hailed from the village of Al-Khasas in occupied Palestine and was among the ambulance teams working in the area at the time of the attack, which led to his death while participating in relief operations and transporting the wounded.

News of his death sparked grief among residents of Palestinian camps and communities, with activists and locals mourning him and praising his humanitarian role and dedication to paramedic work.

The Action Group for Palestinians of Syria has documented the deaths of dozens of Palestinians, including Palestinian refugees from Syria, since the outbreak of the war on Gaza and the escalation of violence into Lebanon, as a result of Israeli airstrikes targeting various areas. Among the victims are humanitarian and relief workers. How can humanitarian and ambulance workers be protected in conflict zones?

قضى المسعف الفلسطيني السوري يزن نورس سعيد، أحد أبناء تجمع الحسينية للاجئين الفلسطينيين بريف دمشق، إثر غارة إسرائيلية استهدفت طواقم إسعاف في بلدة دير قانون النهر جنوبي لبنان، أثناء تأديته مهامه الإنسانية.
وينحدر سعيد من قرية الخصاص في فلسطين المحتلة، وكان ضمن فرق الإسعاف العاملة في المنطقة لحظة الاستهداف، ما أدى إلى مقتله خلال مشاركته في عمليات إغاثة ونقل المصابين.
وأثار خبر وفاته حالة من الحزن بين أبناء المخيمات والتجمعات الفلسطينية، حيث نعاه ناشطون وأهالٍ، مشيدين بدوره الإنساني وتفانيه في العمل الإسعافي.
وكانت “مجموعة العمل من أجل فلسطينيي سوريا” قد وثّقت مقتل عشرات الفلسطينيين، بينهم لاجئون فلسطينيون من سوريا، منذ اندلاع الحرب على غزة وامتداد التصعيد إلى لبنان، نتيجة الغارات الإسرائيلية التي استهدفت مناطق متفرقة، وبين الضحايا عاملون في المجالين الإنساني والإغاثي.
كيف يمكن حماية العاملين في المجال الإنساني والإسعافي في مناطق النزاع؟
