Have mercy, O Lord! O Lord, hasten the Hour! A harsh and painful day, filled with horrors and shocking scenes that shatter hearts. Here was our neighborhood and our family's homes. The houses were demolished, and souls ascended to their Creator. Bodies were torn to pieces. The scene was immense, beyond human comprehension.

My beloved father, Nayef Abu Shamala, and my dear mother, the martyr Fathiya Muhammad Abu Shamala, were martyred. Also martyred were my brothers and sisters, my dear wife, the martyr Reeman Qudaih, and my brothers and sisters: Hassan Nayef Abu Shamala and his son Muhammad, Muhammad Nayef Abu Shamala, Zuhair Nayef Abu Shamala, Aisha Nayef Abu Shamala, Dawlat Nayef Abu Shamala, Umayma Nayef Abu Shamala and her daughter, my brother Mahmoud Nayef Abu Shamala and his wife, my uncle Asaad Abu Shamala and his wife Imtiaz Abu Shamala and their children, my beloved Abdul Rahman Asaad Abu Shamala and Aya Marwan Abu Shamala. Her sister Shahd, her brother Muhammad, and her mother Umm Mahmoud Abu Shamala; Akram Saleh Abu Shamala; Mona Abdul Rahman Abu Shamala, her son Amjad, and her son Muhammad; Ghassan Abdul Rahman Abu Shamala; and others... More than forty martyrs from the family, and bodies are still under the rubble of the houses. Tears welled up in our eyes at the enormity of the scene and the multitude of corpses and remains. There is no power nor strength except with God. To God we belong and to Him we shall return.
