And never think that those who have been killed in the cause of Allah are dead. Rather, they are alive with their Lord, receiving provision, rejoicing in what Allah has bestowed upon them of His bounty, and they receive good tidings about those [to be martyred] after them who have not yet joined them - that there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve. (And We will surely test you with something of fear and hunger and a loss of wealth and lives and fruits, but give good tidings to the patient.) With the highest expressions of patience and acceptance, and with faith in God's decree and destiny, I entrust to Him a piece of my heart, a consequence of cluster bombs that struck my home, to which I was forcibly displaced. My firstborn son, the apple of my eye, the five-year-old martyr Mahmoud Al-Bashiti, the little bird of paradise; my brother-in-law, the martyr Ayman Al-Bashiti (Abu Sajed); my nephew, who was like a son to me, the ten-year-old martyr Sajed Al-Bashiti, the little bird of paradise; and the injury of my father, Professor Mahmoud Al-Bashiti, my pillar of support; and the serious injuries sustained by my nephews, Muhammad and Sanad. Our loss is immense and overwhelming, a burden that even mountains could not bear. But we say only what pleases our Lord: "The eye sheds tears, and the heart grieves, and we are truly saddened by your departure." We ask God to reunite us with you in the Gardens of Eden, and we ask God to reward me for my loss and replace it with something better. To God we belong, and to Him we shall return. God is sufficient for us, and He is the best Disposer of affairs.

وَلَا تَحْسَبَنَّ الَّذِينَ قُتِلُوا فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ أَمْوَاتًا بَلْ أَحْيَاءٌ عِنْدَ رَبِّهِمْ يُرْزَقُونَ ۝ فَرِحِينَ بِمَا آتَاهُمُ اللَّهُ مِنْ فَضْلِهِ وَيَسْتَبْشِرُونَ بِالَّذِينَ لَمْ يَلْحَقُوا بِهِمْ مِنْ خَلْفِهِمْ أَلَّا خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا هُمْ يَحْزَنُونَ ۝ )
(ولنبلونكم بشيء من الخوف والجوع ونقص ‏من الأموال والأنفس والثمرات وبشر الصابرين)

مصابنا كبير وجلل لا تتحمله الجبال ولكن لا نقول الا ما يرضى ربنا إنا العين لتدمع وإنا القلب ليحزن وإنا على فراقكم لمحزونون نسال الله ان يجمعنا بكم في جنات عدن ونسال الله أن ياجرني في مصيبتي ويخلف لي خير منها وإنا لله وإنا إليه راجعون وحسبنا الله ونعم الوكيل
