A Hero's Story from Beit Jann

When I arrived in Beit Jann yesterday morning around 7:30 AM, several residents stopped me at the Beit farm and told me not to enter because drones were targeting everything that entered the town. Even the Civil Defense teams were not allowed in by the occupation forces, and ambulances were not permitted to enter for fear of being targeted. Everyone who told me not to enter told me that a young man had been killed on a motorcycle on the road. When I entered, I saw the motorcycle on the side of the road, charred. Inside Beit Jann, I asked about the owner of the motorcycle, and they told me it was the young martyr, Hussam al-Samman. He was killed while entering Beit Jann to rescue someone injured during the clashes. An Israeli drone targeted him, and he was martyred. Almost nothing remained of him except torn clothes and scattered remains.

Hussam was a simple young man, not yet thirty, married with a beautiful child. He didn't complete his secondary education and worked in agriculture. Like most of the residents of Beit Jann, he was poor and came from a kind, simple, and modest family, rich in dignity, honor, and pride, and who refused to accept humiliation or insult. This family gave birth to the hero Hussam, who gave his life to rescue someone injured in an Israeli bombing. May God accept you, Hussam, and all the martyrs of Beit Jann and all the martyrs of Syria.

عند وصولي لبيت جن صباح الأمس قرابة الساعة السابعة والنصف صباحاً.. استوقفني عدد من الأهالي في مزرعة بيت وأخبروني بعدم الدخول لأن الطيران المسير يستهدف كل ما يدخل للبلدة وحتى فرق الدفاع المدني لم تسمح لها قوات الاحتلال بالدخول ولم تدخل سيارات الإسعاف خوفاً من الاستهداف
كل من أخبرني بعدم الدخول أخبرني بأن شاباً استشهد على دراجة نارية على الطريق.. وعندما دخلت لمحت الدراجة على جانب الطريق متفحمة
داخل بيت جن سألت عن صاحب الدراجة فأخبروني أنه الشاب الشهيد "حسام السمّان" وقد استشهد أثناء دخوله لبيت جن لإسعاف مُصاب أثناء الاشتباكات.. واستهدفته مسيرة إسرائيلية وارتقى على إثرها شهيداً لا يكاد يوجد شيء من أثره سوى ملابس ممزقة وأشلاء.
حسام هو شاب بسيط لم يبلغ الثلاثين من عمره وهو متزوج وأب لطفل جميل، لم يكمل دراسته الثانوية ويعمل بالزراعة، وهو كمعظم أهالي بلدة بيت جن فقير الحال وابن عائلة طيبة بسيطة مستورة الحال، لكنها غنية الكرامة والشهامة والنخوة، عزيزة النفس لا تقبل الذل ولا الإهانة، وقد أنجبت البطل حسام الذي قدم حياته في سبيل إسعاف مُصاب بقصف الاحتلال
