The US Central Command's precision airstrike in northwestern Syria on Saturday, targeting Wassim Tahsin Bayraktar, a senior leader in the al-Qaeda-linked Guardians of Religion organization, is a clear indication that Washington has always held the upper hand in Syria, shaping and implementing policies in the region, and that Ankara alone cannot wield the most influence in the Syrian situation.
The killing of leaders from the Guardians of Religion group is a US step forward in supporting the administration of #Ahmad_al-Sharaa, who had completely defected from its doctrine and gathered remnants under his wing after Guardians of Religion dissolved their organization in January of this year.

‏تنفيذ القيادة المركزية الأميركية ضربة جوية دقيقة في شمال غربي سوريا اليوم السبت، واستهداف المدعو وسيم تحسين بيرقدار، أحد كبار القياديين في تنظيم "حراس الدين" المرتبط بتنظيم القاعدة الإرهابي، إنما هو إشارة واضحة إلى أن اليد الأعلى في سوريا كانت وستبقى لواشنطن الراسمة والمنفذة للسياسات في المنطقة، وأن أنقرة لا يمكنها بمفردها أن تكون صاحبة النفوذ الأمضى في الحالة السورية.
‏مقتل قيادات من جماعة حراس الدين هي خطوة أميركية إلى الأمام لدعم إدارة ⁧‫#أحمد_الشرع‬⁩ ، والذي كان قد انشق تماماً عن فقهها، وجمع فلولاً منها تحت جناحه إثر أن حل حراس الدين تنظيمهم في الشهر الأول من العام الجاري.
