My beloved uncle, Sheikh Nayef Abu Shamala, has departed as a martyr, along with his martyred wife, Fathiya Abu Shamala, and a group of his sons and daughters.

They are: Hassan Nayef Abu Shamala and his son Muhammad; Muhammad Nayef Abu Shamala; Zuhair Nayef Abu Shamala; Aisha Nayef Abu Shamala; Dawlat Nayef Abu Shamala, who came to visit from the Emirates to see her family, but God chose her; Umayma Nayef Abu Shamala and her daughter; Mahmoud Nayef Abu Shamala and his wife; Uncle Asaad Abu Shamala and his wife Imtiaz Abu Shamala and their children; Abdul Rahman Asaad Abu Shamala; Aya Marwan Abu Shamala and her sister Shahd and her brother Muhammad and her mother, Umm Mahmoud Abu Shamala; Akram Saleh Abu Shamala; Mona Abdul Rahman Abu Shamala and her son Amjad and her son Muhammad; Ghassan Abdul Rahman Abu Shamala; and others. More than forty martyrs from the family, and bodies are still under the rubble of the houses. Even stones would soften, and hearts would break with grief and sorrow. There is no power nor strength except with God. To God we belong, and to Him we shall return. The calamity is immense, and the loss is great. God is sufficient for us, and He is the best Disposer of affairs. May God have mercy on you, be kind to you, elevate your status in the Gardens of Paradise, and reunite you with the Messenger of God and my father at the Prophet's Basin, reclining on couches facing one another, enjoying the delights of Paradise.
