The Occupation Kills Three Palestinian Women, Including a Journalist and Two Girls, in Gaza

The Palestinian Center for Human Rights condemns the continued killing of Palestinian civilians by Israeli occupation forces, the latest of which was the killing of three Palestinian women, including a journalist and two girls. This comes amidst ongoing bombing and demolition operations in the Gaza Strip, in the context of Israel's deliberate and continuous violations of the unilateral ceasefire agreement, despite the absence of any hostilities.

According to information gathered by the Center's researchers, Israeli artillery stationed east of the Central Governorate fired several shells between 00:00 and 00:05 on Monday, March 9, 2026. The shells landed in the Al-Sawarha area, southwest of the Nuseirat refugee camp, where tents housing displaced people are located. The shelling killed journalist Amal Hammad Ahmed Shamali, 46, a correspondent for Qatar Radio, who was struck in the head by shrapnel. Five members of her family were also injured, three of them critically, when their tent was directly hit.

The shelling also killed 11-year-old Salsabeel Anwar Mahmoud Faraj, who was struck in the head by shrapnel while sleeping in her tent in the area. Two other family members were injured, one critically.

Furthermore, 16-year-old Nour Saleh Mohammed Al-Shalalfah was killed by shrapnel that caused a head injury. Three other family members were injured, two critically.

The shelling also injured several other civilians inside their tents in the Abu Shamas camp, and damaged a large number of tents at the site. Anwar Mahmoud Muhammad Faraj, 36, told a researcher from the center that he was sleeping with his wife and two children inside their tent in the Abu Shamas camp in the Al-Sawarha area, southwest of the Nuseirat camp, where they have been living for about two years, when they heard a series of explosions in the area. He explained that the explosions injured his wife, Saloum Abdul Rahman Muhammad Faraj, 36, with shrapnel in her hand, and his six-month-old son, Salama, with shrapnel in his head while he was sleeping in his mother's arms. His eleven-year-old daughter, Salsabeel, also sustained a severe head injury from shrapnel.

He added that shrapnel was scattered throughout the camp, damaging a large number of tents, causing cries for help to be heard throughout the area. The shelling resulted in other deaths and injuries. He stated that about an hour later, ambulances arrived at the scene and transported his daughter Salsabeel to Al-Awda Hospital in the Nuseirat camp, where doctors confirmed she had died at the moment of her injury. His wife and son are continuing to receive treatment. Citizen Nasma Adnan Suleiman Abu Shalouf, 22, told a researcher from the center that she heard approximately five consecutive explosions within five minutes, causing shrapnel to fly towards the tents in the area. She added that seconds later, she heard her brother, Mohammed, 17, screaming for help after his wife, Nour Saleh Mohammed Al-Shalalfah, 16, whom he had married about two months prior, was injured. A piece of shrapnel penetrated the tent, causing severe head trauma, which resulted in her death.

The family of journalist Amal Hammad Ahmed Shamali also reported that she was sleeping with her three children inside their tent when a shell landed nearby, injuring her with shrapnel that caused severe head trauma. The shelling also injured her three children and several other family members residing in adjacent tents, while the tent was completely destroyed by the explosion.

In another incident, at approximately 4:35 PM on Sunday, March 8, 2026, an Israeli drone attacked a gathering of civilians near the al-Katiba Mosque in western Gaza City, killing two Palestinians: Muhammad Mustafa Shahada Abu Shadaq (31 years old) and Abdul Rahman Husni Hamdouna (30 years old), a volunteer paramedic with the Palestinian Ministry of Health. Several other civilians sustained injuries of varying severity, some of them critical. The area is densely populated with displaced people.

According to the center's researchers, since the ceasefire declaration on October 10, 2025, Israeli forces have continued to carry out airstrikes, artillery shelling, and gunfire, in addition to repeated demolitions within the areas known as the "Yellow Line," with the aim of destroying what remains of homes and buildings. These attacks have so far resulted in the deaths of 648 Palestinians and injuries to more than 1,728 others, according to data from the Ministry of Health.

These acts constitute grave violations of international humanitarian law, particularly the principles of distinction and proportionality, and amount to war crimes and crimes against humanity. Their general context, repetition, and targeting of protected groups reflect acts that fall under the crime of genocide as defined by the 1948 Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, through the willful killing and inflicting of serious bodily harm on members of a national group with the intent to destroy it in whole or in part.

The Palestinian Centre for Human Rights calls on the international community to assume its responsibilities and take immediate action, including providing urgent protection for civilians, ending the military presence of the occupying forces in the Gaza Strip, halting the targeting of civilian neighborhoods, and compelling Israel to cease its attacks and the blockade imposed on the Gaza Strip.

يدين المركز الفلسطيني لحقوق الإنسان استمرار قوات الاحتلال الإسرائيلي في ارتكاب جرائم قتل بحق المدنيين الفلسطينيين، وكان أحدثها قتل ثلاث فلسطينيات بينهن صحفية وطفلتان، مع مواصلة عمليات القصف والنسف في قطاع #غزة، في سياق خروقاتها المتعمدة والمتواصلة لاتفاق وقف إطلاق النار من جانب واحد، في ظل غياب أي أعمال قتالية.
ووفق المعلومات التي جمعها باحثو المركز، أطلقت المدفعية الإسرائيلية المتمركزة شرقي المحافظة الوسطى، بين الساعة 00:00 والساعة 00:05 من فجر الاثنين 9 مارس 2026، عدة قذائف سقطت في منطقة السوارحة جنوب غرب مخيم #النصيرات، حيث تنتشر خيام #النازحين. وأسفر القصف عن مقتل الصحفية آمال حماد أحمد شمالي (46 عامًا)، مراسلة راديو قطر، إثر إصابتها بشظية أحدثت تهتكًا في الرأس، كما أصيب خمسة من أفراد أسرتها، ثلاثة منهم في حالة خطيرة، بعد إصابة خيمتهم بشكل مباشر.
وأدى القصف إلى مقتل الطفلة سلسبيل أنور محمود فراج (11 عامًا) إثر إصابتها بشظية في الرأس أثناء نومها داخل خيمتها في المنطقة، وإصابة اثنين من أفراد عائلتها، وُصفت جراح أحدهما بالخطيرة.
كما أسفر عن مقتل الطفلة نور صالح محمد الشلالفة (16 عامًا) بعد إصابتها بشظية أحدثت تهتكًا في الرأس، فيما أصيب ثلاثة من أفراد عائلتها، وُصفت جراح اثنين منهم بالغة الخطورة.
وأدى القصف أيضًا إلى إصابة عدد آخر من المواطنين داخل خيامهم في مخيم أبو شماس، إضافة إلى تضرر عدد كبير من الخيام في الموقع.
وأفاد المواطن أنور محمود محمد فراج (36 عامًا) لباحث المركز أنه كان نائمًا مع زوجته وطفليه داخل خيمتهم المقامة في مخيم أبو شماس بمنطقة السوارحة جنوب غرب مخيم النصيرات، حيث يقيمون منذ نحو عامين، عندما سمعوا أصوات انفجارات متتالية في المنطقة. وأوضح أن الانفجارات أدت إلى إصابة زوجته سلوم عبد الرحمن محمد فراج (36 عامًا) بشظية في يدها، كما أصيب طفله سلامة (6 أشهر) بشظية في الرأس بينما كان نائمًا في حضن والدته، فيما أصيبت طفلته سلسبيل (11 عامًا) بشظية في الرأس أحدثت تهتكًا شديدًا.
وأضاف أن الشظايا تناثرت في أنحاء المخيم وأصابت عددًا كبيرًا من الخيام، ما تسبب في صرخات استغاثة في مختلف أرجاء المكان، وأسفر القصف عن سقوط قتلى ومصابين آخرين. وبيّن أنه بعد نحو ساعة وصلت سيارات الإسعاف إلى الموقع، حيث نقلت طفلته سلسبيل إلى مستشفى العودة في مخيم النصيرات، وأكد الأطباء استشهادها منذ لحظة إصابتها، فيما تواصل زوجته وطفله تلقي العلاج.
وأفادت المواطنة نسمة عدنان سليمان أبو شلوف (22 عامًا) لباحث المركز أنها سمعت نحو خمس انفجارات متتالية خلال خمس دقائق، ما أدى إلى تطاير الشظايا باتجاه الخيام في المنطقة. وأضافت أنها سمعت بعد ثوان صراخ شقيقها محمد (17 عامًا) وهو يستنجد عقب إصابة زوجته نور صالح محمد الشلالفة (16 عامًا)، التي تزوج منها قبل نحو شهرين، حيث اخترقت شظية الخيمة وأحدثت تهتكًا شديدًا في رأسها، ما أدى لمقتلها.
كما أفاد ذوو الصحفية آمال حماد أحمد شمالي أنها كانت نائمة مع أطفالها الثلاثة داخل خيمتهم عندما سقطت إحدى القذائف بجوار الخيمة، ما أدى إلى إصابتها بشظية أحدثت تهتكًا في الرأس. وأسفر القصف كذلك عن إصابة أطفالها الثلاثة وعدد من أفراد العائلة المقيمين في خيام مجاورة، فيما دمرت الخيمة بالكامل جراء الانفجار.
وفي حادثة أخرى، هاجمت طائرة مسيّرة إسرائيلية عند نحو الساعة 16:35 من يوم الأحد 8 مارس 2026 تجمعًا للمواطنين مقابل مسجد الكتيبة غرب مدينة غزة، ما أدى إلى مقتل مواطنين هما محمد مصطفى شحادة أبو شدق (31 عامًا)، وعبد الرحمن حسني حمدونة (30 عامًا)، وهو مسعف متطوع لدى وزارة الصحة الفلسطينية. كما أصيب عدد آخر من المواطنين بجراح متفاوتة، وُصفت جراح بعضهم بالغة الخطورة، علمًا أن المنطقة مكتظة بالنازحين.
ووفق متابعة باحثي المركز، لم تتوقف قوات الاحتلال منذ إعلان وقف إطلاق النار في 10 أكتوبر 2025 عن تنفيذ غارات جوية وقصف مدفعي وإطلاق نار، إلى جانب عمليات نسف متكررة داخل المناطق الواقعة ضمن ما يعرف بالخط الأصفر، بهدف تدمير ما تبقى من منازل ومبانٍ. وأسفرت هذه الاعتداءات حتى الآن عن مقتل 648 مواطنًا وإصابة أكثر من 1728 آخرين، وفق بيانات وزارة الصحة.
وتشكل هذه الأفعال انتهاكات جسيمة لقواعد القانون الدولي الإنساني، ولا سيما مبدأي التمييز والتناسب، وترقى إلى جرائم حرب وجرائم ضد الإنسانية. كما تعكس، في سياقها العام وتكرارها واستهدافها لفئات محمية، أفعالًا تندرج ضمن جريمة الإبادة الجماعية كما عرفتها اتفاقية منع جريمة الإبادة الجماعية لعام 1948، من خلال القتل العمد وإلحاق أذى جسدي خطير بأفراد جماعة قومية بقصد تدميرها كليًا أو جزئيًا.
يطالب المركز الفلسطيني لحقوق الإنسان المجتمع الدولي بتحمل مسؤولياته واتخاذ إجراءات فورية تشمل توفير حماية عاجلة للمدنيين، وإنهاء الوجود العسكري لقوات الاحتلال في قطاع غزة، ووقف استهداف الأحياء المدنية، وإلزام إسرائيل بوقف هجماتها وحصارها المفروض على القطاع.
