When I arrived in Gaza in September, Lina and her children were there to greet me. Beautiful and serene as ever, she brought me a gift of some candles she had made. We spent a lovely day together in the family orchard and from there went to the sea. We made the most beautiful memories. During the massacres in Gaza, Lina remained in Gaza City and stayed with her children in one of the shelter schools, where one loses all privacy. She and her children suffered terribly for weeks in the schools, but in November, after much urging from her parents, Lina left with her husband and children for what was supposed to be safety... to the south of Wadi Gaza... to Nuseirat. She lived for 10 days with her parents, her brother, and all my family members in the home of my sister Aya and her husband, Dr. Abdul Latif Al-Hajj... They were the most beautiful days, despite the lack of security and safety and the frequent shortages of food... but there were other positive aspects that emerged during wars, such as mutual support, solidarity, love, and sharing. Lena was martyred on that fateful day, November 21st, along with the rest of her family and 44 other members of our family.
Today, Lena would be celebrating her birthday among them there, with the rest of the family. We are left alone, looking at photos and reliving memories.

عندما نزلت الى غزة في شهر سبتمبر، كانت لينا واطفالها في استقبالي، جميلة هادئة كعادتها، أحضرت لي هدية بعض الشموع التي كانت تصنعها. قضينا نهارا جميلا معا في بيارة العائلة ومن هناك الى البحر. صنعنا اجمل الذكريات. اثناء المجازر الدائرة في غزة، بقيت لينا في مدينة غزة وسكنت مع أطفالها في إحدى مدارس الايواء، حيث يفقد المرء خصوصيته في تلك الاماكن، عانت هي واطفالها الويلات لاسابيع في المدارس، ولكن في شهر نوفمبر وبعد إلحاح من والديها، غادرت لينا مع زوجها وطفليها الى حيث الامان المزعوم... الى جنوب وادي غزة... الى النصيرات. عاشت ١٠ ايام مع والديها واخيها وجميع افراد عائلتي في بيت اختي اية وزوجها الدكتور عبد اللطيف الحاج... كانت أجمل الايام على الرغم من انعدام الأمن والأمان وعدم توفر الاكل في الكثير من الاحيان... لكن كانت هناك مزايا أخرى إيجابية تظهر اثناء الحروب، من تكافل وتضامن وحب ومشاركة.
لينا ، استشهدت ذلك اليوم المشؤوم،21 نوفمبر، مع بقية افراد اسرتها، بالإضافة إلى 44 شخص آخر من عاءلتنا.
اليوم تحتفل لينا بعيد ميلادها بينهم هناك، مع بقية افراد الاسرة، نحن بقينا لوحدنا نقلب الصور ونعيش الذكريات
