Who is Issam Azzam, owner of the Kanaker farm targeted today?!
Farmer Issam Azzam had no idea that his soul, which once prepared "Mansaf" in Karama Square, would suddenly depart this life, following an explosion that occurred on his farm today, claiming his life instantly.
Azzam, who dedicated his efforts and money to honoring the peaceful demonstrators in the city of Sweida during one of the most sincere moments at the beginning of the popular movement, wasn't seeking fame or gratitude. He viewed dignity as an inalienable right, and hospitality as an act that restores honor and chivalry. When he heard someone on a television program belittle the demonstrators and reduce them to "a sandwich and a can of Coke," he didn't hesitate for a moment and said his now-iconic words: "I was slaughtered."
With his own money and the effort of his day, he built "Freedom Villages" in the heart of the city, offering mansaf to the demonstrators, another symbolic mansaf to the detainees, and a third to the police, because, as he said, "all the sons of Syria are people, from one house."
Today, he didn't offer mansaf, but rather his soul, but the actions he left behind will remain etched in the memory of the square: a young man with weary hands and a heart filled with the belief that dignity deserves sacrifice.

من هو عصام عزام صاحب مزرعة كناكر المستهدفة اليوم؟!
لم يكن يعلم المزارع عصام عزام، أن روحه التي أعدّت "المناسف" ذات يوم في ساحة الكرامة، ستغيب عن الحياة فجأة، إثر انفجار وقع في مزرعته اليوم، وأودى بحياته على الفور.
عزام، الذي نذر جهده وماله لتكريم المتظاهرين السلميين في مدينة السويداء خلال واحدة من أكثر اللحظات صدقاً في بداية الحراك الشعبي، لم يكن يبحث عن شهرة أو شكر. كان يرى الكرامة حقاً لا يُنتقص، والضيافة فعل يعيد الاعتبار للنخوة. حين سمع من أحد البرامج التلفزيونية من يستخف بالمتظاهرين ويختصرهم بـ"سندويشة وعلبة كولا"، لم يتردد لحظة، وقال كلمته التي أصبحت علامة: (أني ذبحت).
ومن حر ماله، ومن تعب يومه، صنع "قِرى الحرية" في قلب المدينة، وقدم مناسف للمتظاهرين، ومنسفاً آخر رمزياً للمعتقلين، وثالثاً لعناصر الشرطة، لأن "كل أبناء سوريا أهل، ومن بيت واحد"، كما قال.
اليوم، لم يُقدم منسفاً، بل قدم روحه، لكن تلك المواقف التي تركها خلفه سوف تبقى محفورة في ذاكرة الساحة: شاب بيدين متعبتين، وقلب مليء بالإيمان بأن الكرامة تستحق أن تُذبح لها الذبائح.
