[The video includes scenes of rubble, bodies, and their transport by ambulances.
Zahra Shahriari, thirty-four years old, six months pregnant—she was one of the teachers at Mina School.
Her sister narrates:]
We looked and saw that from the direction of the school, a thick, heavy column of black smoke was rising. We truly never thought it was the school. We never imagined they would strike a school.
Everywhere I searched, they were bringing bodies out. I kept asking: is this a teacher or a student? The scenes were unbearable—heads and torsos brought out separately, arms on their own, fragments of bodies pulled from under the rubble.
Then they told us to go to the hospital. Everyone had been taken there. We arrived, and in those first hours—until midnight, and through the night until morning—I stayed at the hospital. Every time an ambulance arrived, I ran. My sister and I were there together, running each time. They would bring in teachers… and we would ask to see them. They said we couldn’t. We begged—“just show us a fingernail, a foot, anything.” Just one piece, so we could recognize her.
I knew my sister.
And still, there was no trace of Zahra’s body.
From Saturday, when it happened, through Sunday and Monday, this was all we did: school, hospital, morgue. Again and again. Four times a day we walked that path. We went to the school—nothing. To the hospital—nothing. To the morgue—nothing. We couldn’t find her anywhere.
When I returned home, my mother kept saying: “Zahra, go bring Zahra back. Bring her back.”
But we couldn’t find her.
We searched everywhere—showing them her ring, her bracelet, her watch—anything that might help identify her.
Then they called us. We were on the way when we got there. They said: “We found a ring.”
When we reached the morgue, the doors were closed. They showed us only a hand.
Just a hand—with a ring.
From a distance, we recognized the ring. We knew it was hers.
Zahra loved teaching. She had turned her home into another classroom.
