According to reports published in Iranian media, Mohammad Reza Thaqafifar, one of the old bodyguards of Ali Khamenei, the slain leader of the Islamic Republic, was killed during the joint Israeli and American attacks on the office of the leader of the Islamic Republic on Saturday, March 29.⁣The Tasnim news agency, affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, introduced Thaqafifar as Ali Khamenei's old bodyguard and "special assistant". The Mehr news agency, affiliated with the Islamic Propaganda Organization, also wrote that he was "serving the leader until the last moment of his life."⁣A review of published images of public speeches and armed forces parades shows that Mohammad Reza Thaqafifar was always present next to or behind Ali Khamenei and was one of his trusted people. Thaqafifar's funeral was held on Sunday, March 7, in the city of Boshroiyeh in South Khorasan Province.

بر اساس گزارش‌های منتشرشده در رسانه‌های ایران، محمدرضا ثقفی‌فر، از محافظان قدیمی علی خامنه‌ای، رهبر کشته‌شده جمهوری اسلامی، در جریان حملات مشترک اسرائیل و آمریکا در روز شنبه ۹ اسفند به دفتر رهبر جمهوری اسلامی کشته شد.⁣خبرگزاری تسنیم، وابسته به سپاه پاسداران جمهوری اسلامی، ثقفی‌فر را محافظ قدیمی و «دستیار ویژه» علی خامنه‌ای معرفی کرده است. خبرگزاری مهر، وابسته به سازمان تبلیغات اسلامی، نیز نوشت که او «تا آخرین لحظه زندگی خود مشغول خدمت به رهبری» بود.⁣بررسی تصاویر منتشرشده از سخنرانی‌های عمومی و رژه نیروهای مسلح نشان می‌دهد محمدرضا ثقفی‌فر همواره در کنار یا پشت سر علی خامنه‌ای حضور داشته و از افراد مورد اعتماد او بوده است. مراسم تشییع جنازه ثقفی‌فر روز یکشنبه ۱۷ اسفند در شهرستان بشرویه در استان خراسان جنوبی برگزار شد.
