Dr. Afra considered this attack on the Hussaini pilgrims a blatant crime, contrary to humanitarian principles and a gross violation of international law, and emphasized: By targeting defenseless people, the enemies have once again revealed their inhuman nature, but these actions will never disrupt the will of the lovers of Imam Hussain (AS) to participate in the great epic of Arbaeen.
The secretary of the Health and Treatment Committee of the Arbaeen Headquarters of Abadan University of Medical Sciences, while expressing sympathy with the families of the martyrs of this incident and wishing a speedy recovery to the injured, noted: The provision of services with the full readiness of the relief, medical and operational forces will continue with strength until the end of the ceremony.
According to IRNA, the Shalamcheh international border in Khorramshahr city is one of the main crossings for the Hussaini Arbaeen pilgrims between Iran and Iraq, and hosts a large number of domestic and foreign pilgrims every year.
This border is located about 15 kilometers from the city of Khorramshahr and about 120 kilometers from the center of Khuzestan province (Ahvaz), and due to its proximity to the city of Basra in Iraq, it is considered one of the most important land traffic routes for Arbaeen pilgrims. During Arbaeen, the Shalamcheh border is active 24/7, and services such as transportation, accommodation, relief, and hospitality for pilgrims are provided at this border terminal.

به گزارش ایرنا از روابط عمومی اورژانس پیش‌بیمارستانی دانشگاه علوم پزشکی آبادان، یاسین افرا پنجشنبه اظهار کرد: بلافاصله پس از وقوع حادثه، تیم‌های عملیاتی اورژانس و آمبولانس‌های مستقر در مرز بین المللی شلمچه در کنار سایر نیروهای امدادی در محل حاضر شدند و ضمن انجام اقدامات درمانی اولیه، مصدومان را برای ادامه روند درمان به مراکز درمانی منتقل کردند.
وی با اشاره به آمادگی کامل مجموعه بهداشت و درمان منطقه افزود: تمامی ظرفیت‌های درمانی، بیمارستانی و اورژانس پیش‌بیمارستانی در حالت آماده‌باش قرار دارند و خدمات‌رسانی به زائران اربعین حسینی بدون وقفه و با حداکثر توان ادامه دارد.
دکتر افرا، این حمله به زائران حسینی را جنایتی آشکار، مغایر با اصول انسانی و نقض فاحش حقوق بین‌الملل دانست و تاکید کرد: دشمنان با هدف قرار دادن مردم بی‌دفاع، بار دیگر ماهیت ضدبشری خود را آشکار کردند، اما این اقدامات هرگز خللی در اراده عاشقان حضرت اباعبدالله الحسین (ع) برای حضور در حماسه عظیم اربعین ایجاد نخواهد کرد.
دبیر کمیته بهداشت و درمان ستاد اربعین دانشگاه علوم پزشکی آبادان ضمن ابراز همدردی با خانواده‌های شهدای این حادثه و آرزوی شفای عاجل برای مجروحان، خاطرنشان کرد: خدمت‌رسانی با آمادگی کامل نیروهای امدادی، درمانی و عملیاتی تا پایان مراسم با قدرت ادامه خواهد داشت.
به گزارش ایرنا، مرز بین‌المللی شلمچه در شهرستان خرمشهر، یکی از گذرگاه‌های اصلی تردد زائران اربعین حسینی میان ایران و عراق به شمار می‌رود و هر ساله میزبان شمار زیادی از زائران داخلی و خارجی است.
این مرز در حدود ۱۵ کیلومتری شهر خرمشهر و حدود ۱۲۰ کیلومتری مرکز استان خوزستان (اهواز) قرار دارد و به دلیل نزدیکی به شهر بصره عراق، از مهم‌ترین مسیرهای تردد زمینی زائران اربعین محسوب می‌شود.
در ایام اربعین، مرز شلمچه به‌صورت شبانه‌روزی فعال بوده و خدماتی همچون حمل‌ونقل، اسکان، امدادرسانی و پذیرایی از زائران در این پایانه مرزی ارائه می‌شود.
