But this temporary peace did not last. At the end of the shift, amidst the commotion of the emergency room and various wards, one of my colleagues, with deadly caution, broke the news to me. Since morning, it was as if an unknown force had felt a heaviness on my back and spiritual arrows had targeted me; today I understand that that feeling was a prelude to my heart preparing to receive this enormous loss.
