I drew strength from them. Let me tell you about my mother, father, and siblings: Mahmoud, his wife, and their children, Zein, Lubna (a violinist), Kinan, and Sari, who was only five months old when he was martyred. My brother, Muhammad, and his children, Ezz El-Din, Lian, Adnan, and Adam, who was seven years old when he was martyred. My brother, Youssef (the nurse), who spent most of his time at the hospital treating the wounded until he was martyred. My sister, Nisreen, and her children, Hussam (the engineer) and Issam (the pharmacist), and their children, Waseem (five years old), Ismail, and Muhammad (between six and four years old). Her daughters, Israa, Afnan, Raghad, and Misk. My sister, Jihan, and her husband, Khaled, and their children, Musa and Lina, and their grandchildren, Yahya and Lin. My sister's children were in her house when it was bombed because my family was in Gaza City, and the Israelis ordered them to leave the area and head south, claiming it was safe there. And unfortunately, there was no safety. My sister, who was a director at UNRWA, and her husband, a doctor, were at the hospital, not at home. My sister was pulled from the rubble, injured, and lost her sons, Majd and Omar, her daughter, Dima, her husband, and her grandchildren. Her ten-day-old granddaughter survived, and her grandfather took refuge in a neighbor's house. All of this was done to us by the fascist and Nazi Netanyahu, who kills children and innocent people in front of the world. My family was killed at 4:20 in the morning. They were asleep, civilians in their homes. And this massacre continues in front of the world, and no one is stopping it. Forty-eight members of my family, my memories, my beautiful past, and my shattered present—how can life go on? This is the question I always ask myself. I think this is fate, and people ask me if I can forgive, but I wonder how I can forgive someone who killed my family. These are forty-eight dreams, and a part of me. I will not forgive, and I will not pardon. I will pursue them in every corner and in every court.
