When a number of Palestinian families in Khan Younis, southern Gaza Strip, sought refuge in a café to escape the ongoing bombardment east of the city, Israeli warplanes targeted the café, killing 18 people and injuring several others.

The Rio Café, which was bombed by Israeli warplanes in the heart of Khan Younis, is one of the cafes, restaurants, and shops targeted as the Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip continues for the sixteenth day.

A correspondent for Al-Khaleej Online documented the extensive damage inflicted on the café in Khan Younis and the complete destruction of the residential building it houses. Several residents evacuated the building for fear of its collapse and renewed bombing.
