The first Israeli soldier has been killed as a result of Iranian strikes.

The Israeli Defense Ministry said the man was 18-year-old Corporal Eitan Zachs from Beersheba, who was training in the multi-dimensional unit 888 Refaim.

It is one of the youngest Israeli special forces units, formed in 2019 as part of a program to develop new combat tactics and adapt to changing threats and conditions on the modern battlefield.

The unit is the embodiment of the concept of "Multi-Domain Operations" and consists of several branches of the armed forces, including infantry, engineering troops, armored troops, air force, artillery and reconnaissance units.
