Nine Syrians were killed while attempting to confront the Israeli occupation forces' incursion into the Al-Jabiliyah Dam forest between the towns of Nawa and Tasil in the Daraa countryside last night, Wednesday. The occupation forces targeted them with artillery shelling, which also injured several other residents.

Daraa witnessed widespread public mobilization following the occupation army's advance, amid calls for armed confrontation. According to the governor of Daraa, this was the first ground incursion by the occupation forces into agricultural areas, before they withdrew. The governor confirmed that the residents refused to communicate with the occupation forces, considering that "the leadership in Damascus is authorized to speak on our behalf."

The occupation army claimed to have eliminated militants and destroyed terrorist infrastructure in the Daraa countryside that "pose a threat to the State of Israel." The Syrian Foreign Ministry, however, only condemned the Israeli aggression on Syria and called on the international community to pressure Israel to halt its attacks.

وشهدت #درعا استنفاراً شعبياً واسعاً إثر تقدّم جيش الاحتلال، وسط دعوات للمواجهة بالسلاح. وبحسب محافظ درعا، كان هذا التوغّل البرّي الأوّل لقوّات الاحتلال في المناطق الزراعيّة، قبل أن تعود وتنسحب منها. وأكّد المحافظ رفض الأهالي التواصل مع قوّات الاحتلال، معتبراً أنَّ «القيادة في دمشق هي المخولة للحديث باسمنا».

وادّعى جيش الاحتلال القضاء على مسلّحين وتدمير بنى تحتيّة إرهابيّة في ريف درعا «تشكّل تهديداً على دولة إسرائيل». بالمقابل، اكتفت الخارجية السوريّة بإدانة العدوان الإسرائيلي على سوريا ومناشدة المجتمع الدولي للضغط على إسرائيل لوقف هجماتها.
