Last Updated: October 22, 2025

Shortly after midnight on Sunday, 28 April 2024, a 20-year-old man named Ahmad Hussein Taha Al-Haboun was killed and his 43-year-old father Hussein Taha Al-Haboun was injured when a guided anti-armor missile which was launched from the area under the joint control of the regime forces and the Kurdish-affiliated militia Syrian Democratic Forces struck the car they were reportedly driving on the road to Barjaka village, near the city of Darat Azza, west of Aleppo, Syria.

The Syrian Civil Defense published a detailed report of the incident on its website. Also, a message by the Syrian Civil Defence (SCD) that was relayed in several social media posts including a Facebook post by user @Shahid said that the SCD’s teams recovered Ahmad Hussein Taha’s body and brought it to his family home. They also made sure there were no other victims in the incident.

Twitter/X user @AsharqNewsSYR shared a picture of the car caught on fire, while the Syrian Civil Defense shared a picture where three SCD volunteers in yellow vests and white helmets were leaning over the body of one of the victims lying on the ground.

Since the SCD and other sources identified the alleged belligerents as the Syrian regime forces and/or the Syrian Democratic Forces, Airwars has graded both strike status and civilian harm status as “contested”.
