During the night of August 1st 2024, at least two civilians, including a young man named Muhammad Shaker al-Jaabari, were reportedly killed and others injured in an alleged Israeli airstrike at the Al-Shujaiya junction to the east of Gaza City.
Multiple news and social media sources reported the attack. Sources suggested that the attack was launched on a group of citizens who were at Al-Shujaiya junction at the time. Some sources suggested that three people were killed in the attack while others reported that two people were killed. No additional names were given for those reportedly killed aside from Muhammad al-Jaabari.
While none of the sources provided a specific injury toll, @Sa7atPlBreaking reported “a number of injuries” resulting from the attack.
Both Aasem Hassan al-Jaabari and Abu Malek al-Jaabari reported that their cousin Muhammad al-Jaabari was killed at the Al-Shujaiya junction, and Abu Malek al-Jaabari included an image of Muhammad, a young man smiling at the camera while wearing a polo hat and glasses.
A post on Twitter/X from @AkhbarOrdon reported that the deaths and injuries were caused by artillery shelling. However, the majority of other sources attributed the attack to an Israeli aircraft.
Where sources identified the belligerent, all sources attributed the strike to the Israeli Military.

Reports of the incident mention the vicinity of the Al-Shujaiya Junction (مفترق الشجاعية) in the Al-Shujaiya neighbourhood (الشجاعي) in Gaza City (مدينة غزة), for which the generic coordinates are: 31.502222, 34.467778. Due to limited satellite imagery and information available to Airwars, we were unable to verify the location further.
