A mother and her two young daughters were killed in an alleged Israeli bombardment on Nabatieh in southern Lebanon on 23 September 2024.

Roudayna Kalakesh was killed with her children, Fatima Nassar and six-year-old Yasmina Nassar. They appear to be survived by father and husband Ahmad Nassar.

Multiple sources shared photographs of the family, and in particular, Yasmina. She had written a note, subsequently widely shared on social media, where she expressed her hope for her family’s safety. “My wish,” she wrote, “is that my family and I remain well in the war.”

Twitter/X user @YaraAliChaer1 mourned her two young cousins, and remembered Roudayna as a “Hajja”, indicating that she may have completed the Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca.

A Facebook page for the town of Nabatieh wrote that prayers were being held for the family: “The Imam of the city of Nabatieh, His Eminence Sheikh Abdul Hussein Sadiq, led the prayers over the pure bodies.” A picture was attached showing loved ones praying over a shrouded casket. Sources indicated that condolence services were being held throughout the week.

Where sources identified belligerents, all sources attributed the strike to the Israeli military.
