On September 23, 2024, civilian Ra’ef Shouman was killed in an alleged Israeli bombardment that hit the town of Zifta in Lebanon.
News reports coming from the region described the “massive destruction” caused by strikes with several sharing videos showing damage to cars and streets. In one such post, an Al Jazeera video shows a “large displacement movement” of people fleeing the city by car as explosions are occurring on the highway.
Friends and family took to social media to commemorate the loss of their loved one, sharing photos of Ra’ef and describing him as a “happy young man.”
Where sources identified a belligerent, all sources attributed the strike to Israeli forces. While Al Arabi News reported airstrikes, others, such as Al Jazeera Egypt, pointed to “shelling”.

Reports of the incident mention the village of Zifta (زفتا), for which the generic coordinates are: 33.446030, 35.393922. Due to limited satellite imagery and information available to Airwars, we were unable to verify the location further.
