On Thursday, September 26, 2024, two women named Zainab Nisr and Zainab Surour were reportedly killed following alleged Israeli airstrikes in the town of Aita al-Shaab, southern Lebanon. Three men identified as militants were also killed in the same incident.

Several sources, including multiple social media accounts, Elwatan news, and a correspondent from AlQahera News TV in Lebanon reported that Israeli aircraft carried out raids and “targeted” the town of Aita al-Shaab in southern Lebanon.

X user @HUSSEINSROUR shared that Zainab Surour, Zainab Nisr, Mohamed Ahmed Reda, and Ali Mohammed Abdul Nabi were killed in reported attacks in Aita al-Shaab. This was the sole source that announced the killing of Zainab Surur and Zainab Nisr and provided no further information on them besides two images of what appear to be both adult women, pictured in black hijabs.

Multiple sources, including a facebook post from bintjbeil.org, announced that the Bint Jbeil Governmental Hospital mourned the death of Ali Mohammed Abdul Nabi, who worked there as a radiologist. However, a Facebook post by Dr-Hadi Wajih stated that Ali had “left his family and his job (radiologist) and joined the ranks of the Mujahideen since the beginning of the support battle” – taken with the other reference by @HUSSEINSROUR to Ali Mohammed Abdul Nabi as a “mujahid,” he has been classified as a militant.

Additionally, Mohamed Ahmed Reda and Mohammed Hussein Sorour were also killed. Multiple sources referred to Mohamed Ahmed Reda as “commander of the missile force”, including a Facebook post by Mr. Ali Al-Madani, showing Mohamed Ahmed Reda in what appears to be a militant uniform. Multiple sources also reported the killing and “martyrdom” of “Commander” Mohammed Hussein Sorour. Hezbollah publicly announced his death through an official commemorative poster. This poster, shared in a post on X by @ahmadserhann, featured a picture of Mohammed Hussein Sorour in militant uniform, accompanied by the Hezbollah logo and Arabic text highlighting his rank and martyr status. Based on these depictions, Airwars considers both men as having militant status and are therefore not counted among the civilian casualties.

Where sources identified a belligerent, all sources attributed the airstrikes to Israeli forces.
