Airwars Assessment

Last Updated: December 22, 2025

On the evening of Thursday, September 25th, 2024, at least five people were killed – at least one of whom may have been a civilian – following an alleged Israeli airstrike on a house in the town of Al-Tayri, in southern Lebanon. Others were reportedly still missing under the rubble.

Facebook user Umm Ahmed Jarousha claimed that the incident resulted in “5 martyrs and there are others under rescue.” She added a video of a powerful blast with flashes and of fire burning on the horizon during the dark time of the day, either late evening or night.

At 9:44 p.m., the Echo of Dahieh Telegram page confirmed this statement, adding that the people remain “missing under the rubble after the occupation aircraft bombed a house in the town of Al-Tayri, south of Lebanon.”

Among the victims identified in the Facebook post by Youni Youni were four adult men, as evident from the collage of their images: Fadi Shaito, Abdullah Fayyad, Mohammed Ali Faqih, and Ghassan Al Sagheer. No information about the fifth victim and on his/her civilian status was made available.

Hassan Fayad post identified Abdullah Fayyad as a “mujahid,” alleging a link to militant groups. Attached to the post was a picture of Abdullah that was relayed by other accounts, showing a young man with brown hair and greenish eyes. However, without further photographic evidence or information on his membership in the armed groups, Airwars considers his civilian status as ‘contested’ until further information comes to light.

Hajj Fadi Shaito was one of the victims of the attacks. The Facebook post by “Oh, the Master of Time”  reads, “Congratulations on your certificate, Al-Tayyari”, in the legend of a video showing an image that other posts attributed to Fadi Shaito. According to pictures shared online, Hajj Fadi Shaito had greying hair and appeared to be well into his fifties. In many of the photos he was dressed in military clothes. In an online post, Ahmed Al-Shabli accused Hajj Fadi Shaito of being involved in “several massacres against the people of Syria in Al-Qusayr in the Homs countryside”, more specifically against displaced people. Based on the photographic evidence and these allegations, Airwars considers Fadi Shaito a militant until further information comes to light.

On Twitter/X, @MohammedDimashk described Muhammad Faqih (Siraj) as a “respectable man” while on Facebook, Fakih Mohammad Ali, a likely relative, speaks of him as a “brave lion”. This post also refers to him as “Siraj Al-Tayri”, a possible nickname. A picture shared by @Jamalchaiito1 shows Muhammad Faqih (Siraj) as a grey-haired middle-aged man with deep blue eyes. l In an image shared by Fakih Mohammad Ali on Facebook, Muhammad is seen wearing full military gear while holding a firearm. Based on this photographic evidence and references to a “brave lion,” Airwars considers him a militant until further information comes to light.

On Facebook, Hassan Imad Alzein lauded the military accomplishment and bravery of Ghassan Al Sagheer, stating that he had spent “years, nights and days in all fields.” The post also referenced Ghassan’s brother, Talal Al Sagheer, believed to have also passed away and been involved in similar militant activity. Pictures shared by Hassan Bazi and Hassan Imad Alzein show a balding man with blue eyes in military gear, alluding to a militant affiliation. In a post, he’s also referred to as “leader”, likely indicating a commanding position. Airwars considers him a militant until further information comes to light.

Given that Abdullah is the only individual identified in this strike who may have been a civilian, but whose status is contested, Airwars is grading this incident as ‘weak’ until further information becomes available.

Where sources identified a perpetrator, all attributed the attack to Israeli forces.
