Shortly before 7:46 a.m. on the 26th of September 2024, a Syrian refugee was reportedly killed and up to three civilians, including another Syrian, were injured during an alleged Israeli raid on the Al-Barakah neighbourhood of the town of Qana in Southern Lebanon.
Twitter/X account @alsharq_portal reported the incident at 7:46 a.m., marking the information as “urgent.” The majority of other sources, including the Public Health Emergency Operations Center of the Ministry of Public Health, reported that one person was killed and one person was injured. However, one source, Jezzinetahki, reported that as many as three may have been wounded in the alleged strike.
Multiple sources, referring to the Ministry of Health, corroborated that the person killed and one of those injured were of Syrian nationality, with AsharqNewsSYR reporting that they were both refugees. There were no details of the names or ages of the alleged casualties. This assessment will be updated if more specific information emerges.
Sadaa Qana Media reported that the raid took place in the Al-Barakah neighbourhood and that a family of 20 civilians miraculously survived. Included in this post was a picture of a collapsed building and rubble strewn across a car park with a number of cars parked in it. In the pictures, it is the middle of the day, and it appears an ambulance appears to be present at the scene. However, there is only one person in the picture and it otherwise looks deserted. One car in the image appears to be completely destroyed.
HalabTodayTV reported that the alleged raid was in fact an airstrike.
Where sources mentioned a belligerent, all pointed to the Israeli military.
