On the evening on Sunday, August 18th, 2024, two civilians were injured as a result of artillery shelling with contested responsibility allegedly perpetrated by the Syrian regime forces and/or Russian military and/or Iranian military. A medical warehouse of a relief organisation suffered material damage as a result of the incident.

Twitter/X account of the Syrian Civil Defense  @SyriaCivilDefe noted that two civilians, who remain unnamed, were casualties of the attack. One of the injured worked for the relief organisation and another was reportedly crossing the road nearby. One of the civilians received hospital treatment before being discharged. Al Jazeera also reported on the incident and confirmed the same details.

Al Jazeera and SANA uploaded photos showing notable damage to the medical warehouse, including holes in the outer wall. Across the photos, there were also multiple damaged cars. On Facebook, @Radyo reported that the incident came within a wider escalation of shelling in the region, and other areas had also received human and material losses.

Sources typically attributed the Syrian regime forces to be the belligerent. However, Facebook users @Mohammed idlib and @Saroti reported on involvement by the Russian military and Iranian militias. Mohammed idlib also mentioned the intensive flights of Russian and Iranian reconnaissance aircraft in the airspace related to the incident.
