On Saturday, October 26, 2024, a five-year-old male child, identified as Zaid Sharif, sustained injuries as a result of an alleged Turkish mortar shelling on the village of al-Jamousiya, located in the northwestern countryside of Manbij Canton, Syria. The child was promptly transported to a hospital in Manbij for treatment.

ANF News stated: “The Turkish military and its mercenaries targeted the village with mortar fire, injuring five-year-old Zaid Sharif. The ongoing aggression continues to harm civilians in northern Syria.” Facebook user Women Manbij Council documented the incident by showing a video of the child. The video showed a young child (Zaid) lying on a red medical stretcher in what appeared to be a clinical or hospital setting. Zaid was wrapped in a white and blue striped blanket, partially covering their upper body. The boy wore a maroon shirt, and an IV line was visible, attached to his arm, indicating that he was receiving medical treatment.

The surroundings included a tiled floor and white walls, consistent with a hospital or medical facility. To the side, an open doorway revealed a glimpse of another room, where a seated individual could be seen in the background. The overall scene conveyed an atmosphere of emergency care, focusing on the child’s condition and the immediate medical attention being provided.

Where the sources identified the belligerent, all sources attributed responsibility for the attack to the Turkish military.
