On Friday 27th September 2024 a number of people were injured when an alleged Israeli airstrike hit the village of Nabi Alia in Bekaa, Eastern Lebanon.

In a post on X/Twitter, the news agency Saida Gate reported “injuries” as a result of the incident in the town of Nabi Alia. However, the precise number of injuries or the identity of the victims was not detailed. Bekaa Now Group, posting on Facebook, reported that there were injuries but similarly did not specify a number. Several other news agencies, including MTV Lebanon News, Almada News and IM Lebanon News reported on the incident, but did not detail the injuries.

The new agency Voice of Lebanon shared a video depicting a large plume of smoke billowing up behind a residential area. As the smoke billows it begins covering the surrounding residential area. A middle aged woman and a young boy walk to take a look at the smoke through a gap in the buildings, before turning around to walk back. The woman is visibly in a state of stress ushering toward the camera and shaking her finger.

In another video shared on social media by Twitter/X user @asasmedialb, a car is driving through a smoke filled area. The road is covered in debris from collapsed buildings and destroyed cars and the visibility is poor due to the thick smoke. As the cameraman drives, the camera pans to the roadside revealing collapsed buildings burning in smoking flames.

Wadi News shared a photo depicting a large plume of smoke billowing up behind a hillside. Other photos shared by the News Agency Al Raii News depict several dark grey plumes of smoke from different angles. In the first image a tall plume of smoke is seen rising behind three multi storey residential buildings. Another photo, taken from the bottom of the mountain at a much further distance, depicts a much larger plume of smoke that covers an entire residential area and rises up into the mountains. The comment read, “targeting in Nabi Ella.”

Where sources identified a belligerent, all sources attributed the incident to Israeli Forces.
