On 6 December 2024, the Syrian army, with Russian aircover, reportedly conducted a bombardment of Dar al-Kabira in the northern countryside of Homs, which resulted in the deaths of six civilians, including a family of five, amidst a paralysis of the health sector in Homs.

Shaam News was the only source to report on civilian harm from the attack, reporting “6 martyrs in Dar al-Kabira, including a family of 5 people and one martyr”.

An official Syrian military source quoted by multiple local sources described it as a “qualitative operation” in Dar al-Kabira and nearby areas that resulted in significant enemy losses, including destruction of vehicles, equipment, and the killing of dozens of “terrorists,” while also reporting chaos and retreat among opposition forces. The original statement from the Syrian Ministry of Defense was not found, and it is unclear if any of those militant casualties occurred in Dar al-Kabira as there was no further information.
