On Thursday, December 5th, 2024, a civilian woman was killed and two other women were injured in the village of al-Farat in the Manbij district in the Aleppo governorate of Syria in an alleged Turkish artillery shelling.
Nadima al-Hussein al-Hamoud, 45 years old, was killed as a result of the incident. ANF, who reported the news, also noted that the injured woman, Saada al-Faraj, 45 years old, was transferred to a hospital in Manbij due to the severity of her wounds. The report included a photo of an individual lying on a hospital bed surrounded by equipment. Parts of the photo were blurred, suggesting that the injuries sustained were incredibly serious. There is no indication that the photo was of the deceased.
On Facebook, it was reported by the Manbij military council that another woman, Sarah Hajj Hussein, 30 years of age, was also injured as a result of the incident and transferred to the hospital. The post included a video that showed smoke suddenly rising from a cluster of buildings located in the countryside. A separate post by Hawar News included an image of Sarah Hussein lying injured on a hospital bed, with another individual standing over her. The clothing worn by both individuals differed from that shown in the ANF report, confirming the separate civilian casualties.
ROJ News reported the death of Nadima al-Hussein al-Hamoud and also confirmed the injuries to Saada al-Faraj and Sarah Hajj Hussein.
All sources identified the belligerent to be the Turkish military.
