Airwars Assessment
On July 15th, 2025, at least 13 people, including at least seven civilians, were reportedly killed and eight others injured following alleged Israeli airstrikes on an area housing displaced persons in Wadi Fara, located in the northern Bekaa Valley, Lebanon. At least seven militants were also reported killed in Wadi Fara on the 15th, but sources didn’t specify whether those identified as militants were killed in the same or different strikes from the identified civilians.
Multiple sources, including @PalinfoAr, reported that 12 people had been killed and eight others had been injured in strikes on a “camp” for displaced people in the northern Bekaa Valley. According to the Governor of Baalbek-Hermel, the casualties included seven Syrian nationals and an entire family of five from the border town of Tufail. Several sources, including Al Arabiya and the National News Agency, indicated that the strike hit an area where civilians, including displaced families and labourers, had been sheltering.
Among those reportedly killed were an entire Lebanese family from the village of Tufail. The victims were identified as Muhammad Mansour al-Sayyid, his wife Fida Omar al-Sayyid, their daughter (unnamed), his sister Miral Mansour al-Sayyid, and their mother Fatoum Daher. Images shared online showed Muhammad al-Sayyid and another man believed to be a relative, both with dark beards and dressed in black, as well as written prayers mourning the family’s collective loss. One post described the family as having been killed while sheltering near the outskirts of Brital when the strikes occurred.
Two other civilian victims killed were identified as Mustafa Khader al-Saeed and his nephew Hadi Ahmed al-Saeed, Syrian workers from the town of Umm Jabab in Homs. According to family tributes, they were among a group of approximately ten labourers digging wells in the Wadi Fara area when they were killed. Photos of Mustafa and Hadi depicted them as two stocky men, both with short hair and dark clothing, one of them wearing a black jacket. Their death was mourned by relatives online, accompanied by Quranic verses and expressions of resilience.
In addition to the civilians killed, at least seven militants — reportedly affiliated with Hezbollah — were also confirmed dead in the strike or in closely related strikes in the region. Those named included Hussein Ahmed Kanaan from the town of al-Alaq in Baalbek, Riyad Haidar Ahmad from Byblos, Hadi Kanaan from the town of Budai, Majed al-Hajj Hussein from al-Hermel, Mohammad Abbas al-Khatib from Younin, and Dureid Nayef al-Attar from Shaath. These individuals were celebrated as “martyrs” by sources such as the Islamic Resistance, @Samirtouma, @NawrasMedia, and @Alghad_Telegram. Their deaths were also widely commemorated on Facebook and Telegram by accounts including “Bekaa Martyrs”, “Al-Mayadeen Fan Page”, and “Shaheed Updates Lebanon.” Images posted showed most of the men in either military uniforms or casual clothing, with captions such as “the happy moon of Shaath” or “the brave fighter, martyr of [Israeli] treachery.” Posters and memorial collages honoring the men were posted with party insignia and martyrdom quotes, indicative of their militant affiliation.
Imagery from the scene showed the scorched remains of a vehicle and charred earth in a rugged mountainous area, consistent with remote terrain used for displacement or field labour. At least one source, @PalinfoAr, mentioned that the strikes occurred at “a camp for displaced people”.
Where sources identified a belligerent, all sources attributed the attack to Israeli forces.
