On the afternoon of Sunday, October 6, 2024, three civilians, including a woman, were killed, and one other person was injured after two alleged Israeli strikes, including a supposed “double-tap” strike, hit the southern Lebanese town of Jdeidet Marjayoun.

Local news Jezzine Tahki reported that a drone strike hit a motorcycle carrying two individuals, resulting in the immediate death of the driver and injuries to Hind Massaad, a woman who was present at the scene. As the second passenger attempted to flee and residents gathered to assist the wounded, a second strike occurred. This led to the death of the second motorcycle passenger, Internal Security Forces (ISF) member Habib Abu Murad, and injuries to the citizen Jeryes Keserwani – both of whom were transported to a hospital in Nabatieh. A third individual from the town of Debbin was also reported killed in the second strike; their identity has not yet been confirmed.

@Hassib Abdulhamid, on X, mourned the loss of his friend, Sergeant Habib Abu Murad of the ISF. According to him, Sergeant Habib was killed alongside teacher Hind Masoud, while attempting to rescue a young man injured in an earlier strike. In an online tribute, he honoured his friend and extended condolences to his family, the people of Jdeidet Marjayoun, and the ISF. The ISF is part of the Lebanese state security apparatus. As Israel has clearly stated that it is in conflict with Hezbollah, and not the state of Lebanon, Habib’s ISF membership does not make him a militant, and he has been recorded as a civilian. Wadi News on Facebook reported that teacher Hind Massaad, from the town of Jdeidet Marjayoun, has died of her wounds after being struck by shrapnel from a missile fired by an Israeli drone between Jdeidet Marjayoun and Debbin. Masoud was reported to be passing by on the road to visit a relative when the strike occurred. Wadi News also shared an image of Hind. She was a young woman with short brown hair, wearing a colorful dress and sitting on a sofa.

Where sources identified a belligerent, all sources attributed the strike to the Israeli military.
