Airwars Assessment
At 3 p.m. on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, two shepherds were killed in an alleged Turkish drone strike on their vehicle on Al-Kharafi Road connecting the cities of Deir Ezzor and Al-Hasakah in the northeastern Syria.
The media center of the Syrian Democratic Forces published a statement, where it indicated that “in a new Turkish aggression on our areas, a squadron of Turkish occupation warplanes and drones raided, at exactly three o’clock in the afternoon today, Wednesday, several areas in the “Ruwaished” desert, in the “Shaddadi” area, south of Hasakah.” According to the statement, a civilian car carrying shepherds on the Al-Kharafi road between Deir Ezzor and Hasaka was hit in this attack.
While many sources reported on the incident, they repeated the information provided by the SDF. Given the repetitive nature of the reporting, Airwars has graded the strike status of the incident and “single source claim”, and the civilian harm status as “weak.”
