Airwars assessment
Local residents told Airwars researchers that an entire family was killed following alleged Coalition air strikes on their house in Qudis neighbourhood in East Mosul, in the afternoon of December 26th 2016. This was reported in an interview with two witnesses, on June 9th 2017.
The two witnesses, Ala Samir Ahmed and Ali Abdulrazaq, said that the entire family of Abdullah Al Malha died when Coalition airstrike failed to hit the house of a Russian ISIL member (a sniper) and instead hit the neighbouring house. That house had been used by the Al Malha family, who had been displaced after they fled from Guier. They all died in the incident.
In their June 2020 civilian casualty report, the US-led Coalition assessed reports that they were responsible for civilian harm in this strike as “non-credible”, stating that no Coalition actions were conducted in the geographical area at that time.
The local time of the incident is unknown.

For December 25th-26th it stated: “Near Mosul, two strikes [2 British] engaged two ISIL tactical units; destroyed six fighting positions, a land bridge, two tactical vehicles, two buildings, a heavy machine gun, and two mortars; suppressed an ISIL tactical unit and two mortar teams; and damaged a supply route.”
